The single cover for Glad You Came, The Wanted’s second single from their forthcoming second studio album, was revealed today:

Glad You Came is out July 10th through Geffen Records.

Diana Vickers Leaves RCA Records

Diana Vickers has parted ways with her record label, RCA Records, months after she started recording material for her second album.

Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree, Diana’s number one debut album, failed to sell what RCA had expected even after trying to rescue the album campaign by releasing a brand new song during The X Factor last year. The single, My Wicked Heart, failed to become a success following an X Factor performance and plans to re-release the album were scrapped in favour of moving onto its follow up.

Diana announced the news via her Tumblr:

yo guys! I just want to let you know what the crack is at the moment down in the vickers camp. Myself and RCA have decided to part company, purely based on a creative level. I will always be really thankful for the time we’ve spent together and the support they’ve given me. But, I’ve grown up a lot since the first album and whilst the past couple years have been a lot of fun and a great success, I’m now ready to take a wander down a different, very exciting path! In order to grow, this change has to be made.

I’m so proud of where the second album is right now and I’m counting down the minutes until it’s all ready and you guys can finally hear it! I’ve been having the best time over the past 6 months- being creative, working with so many inspirational people, falling in love with LA and growing as an artist.

I just got back from the INCREDIBLE Arcade Fire gig at Hyde park they bloody rocked it. Up early for studio tomorrow so need my rest ! Love always to all my amazing fans. Diana xx

It seems RCA have let Diana keep the new tracks she recorded, in order to take them with her to her new label which has yet to be revealed.

Hopefully the new album will be of the same standard as her debut and manages to find much more success.

Cheryl Cole – “Messy Little Raindrops” Details

Cheryl Cole’s team sent out a newsletter today with details of her upcoming album, Messy Little Raindrops. It’s an eleven track album again, featuring three duets with Travie McCoy, August Rigo and Dizzee Rascal. Everybody, Everyone was described in the newsletter as a “sure-fire hit” and a “killer collaboration with the one and only Dizzee Rascal“, so we can assume it will be the third single following Promise This and The Flood. The album cover and list of producers are yet to be revealed.

The track listing as announced in the newsletter:

One thing about the track titles which stands out immediately is the fact that a lot of the titles are similar to recent songs by other artists. The Promise by Girls Aloud, The Flood by Take That, Hummingbird Heartbeat by Katy Perry, Amnesia by Britney Spears and Waiting by Girls Aloud. This is either a coincidence or else Cheryl’s lyrical inspiration for a number of tracks is heavily influenced by other artists’ ideas.

Messy Little Raindrops is released November 1st through Fascination Records.

The Saturdays’ “Headlines” Details

The Saturdays have revealed the album artwork to their third album Headlines which is to be released in August following the lead single Missing You. It’s definitely the best album cover they’ve had so far which includes the return of their original logo which hasn’t been seen since their debut album, Chasing Lights, and as always, the girls’ individual colours have been incorporated.

The album tracklisting has also been released which confirms one of the rumoured tracklisting’s to be true:

05. Died In Your Eyes
06. Karma
07. Puppet
08. One Shot (Starsmith Mix)

It makes sense to include previous singles, Ego and Forever Is Over, from their previous album, Wordshaker, as an incentive for people who didn’t buy Wordshaker to buy Headlines. One Shot was a fan favourite on Wordshaker so the remix can only improve it. Although it’s only eight tracks long, we already know that Forever Is Over, Ego, One Shot, Missing You and Higher are all great songs meaning there’s not much room for filler on this mini album which will hopefully sell more copies than Wordshaker did. Since hearing it live, Higher sounds like it could be a huge second single.

Missing You is released August 8th followed by Headlines on August 16th through Fascination Records.

Maroon 5 – New Single & Album News

Maroon 5 are set to release their third studio album, Hands All Over, as announced via their Twitter last week. The album, which is rumoured to be their last, is produced solely by Robert ‘Mutt’ Lange. The band also shot the music video for the lead single Misery over the weekend.

Lead vocalist Adam Levine wrote about shooting the video on his Twitter account:

Lots of stunts…I die like ten times In this video! It’s by far the most ambitious and action packed one yet!

Adam also descibed Misery as:

…the most Maroon 5-sounding song on the album.

It was announced that the new album, Hands All Over, will include the following eleven tracks as well as four others:

Cheryl Sings “Live” Again

While I like Cheryl Cole and overlooked the fact that she mimes her way through most performances because of the demanding, energetic routines which put on a good show, it’s no excuse for any singer to mime while standing still.

Cheryl “performed” Fight For This Love on French radio on a show similar to Radio One’s Live Lounge in the UK, standing still behind a mic stand, mouthing the lyrics to a pre-recorded vocal of Fight For This Love out of sync. What’s worse is there was no need for her to mime since there was no dance routine involved and she proved that she’s more than capable of doing a decent live performance as she did last week with her current UK single Parachute and a cover of Owl City’s Fireflies on Radio One’s Live Lounge in the UK. Fight For This Love is not a vocally demanding song and a singer should be able to breeze through it with no problems.

On top of that, the pre-recorded vocal which Cheryl mimed to while rooted to the spot, was the exact same pre-recorded, purposely flawed vocal that she used for her performances of Fight For This Love at The Brits and the Danish version of The X Factor. The least she could do is record a new vocal for each performance to make it sound somewhat convincing.

At this rate, when Cheryl returns to the UK, she’ll be marched straight into the studio to lay down purposely flawed, pre-recorded vocals for the entire setlist as supporting act for The Black Eyed Peas European tour this summer.

Never Judge An Album By Its Cover

Diana Vickers’ team revealed the album artwork for her upcoming debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree but unfortunately it’s a bit of a let down since everything about this project has been going so well. It looks like someone at RCA Records had some fun with Photoshop instead of portraying who Diana is as an artist on her debut album’s artwork.

As you can see it’s a bit average in comparison to the rest of the campaign and the incredible songs that are on it. The album title Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree is no where to be seen and it looks more like a self-titled album. It even pales in comparison to the single cover for Diana’s debut single Once.

The fans on Diana’s official site are already causing an uproar over the artwork so hopefully RCA will have the sense to change it. If it doesn’t get changed, hopefully potential buyers will realise the cover has no reflection on the quality of the songs it contains which are all everything this cover is not i.e. amazing.

Sophie Ellis-Bextor & Freemasons – “Bittersweet”

The Freemasons version of Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s upcoming single Bittersweet has made its way onto the internet after premiering on radio last night. It sounds incredible. Very euphoric dance-pop which will sound amazing in a club. The sound is huge. Having heard clips of the album version, the Freemasons version is definitely the superior version. Bittersweet could be a massive hit for Sophie.

Bittersweet is still without a set release date and the album is yet to be titled since Sophie declared the title Make A Scene to be not good enough via her Twitter.
