The official video for Cher Lloyd’s debut single, Swagger Jagger, just premiered on her official VEVO channel. The video is very colourful with lots of animated designs moving around her as she performs the song. The performance scenes are made to look like her X Factor performances with dancers behind her while she pulls her strange faces for the camera.

However, Syco have got it wrong again. They undoubtedly have no idea how to market an artist properly and have aimed Cher at the wrong age group. It’s too “young” and won’t appeal to the same people who loved Cher’s first X Factor audition. It tries too hard to incorporate what Cher Lloyd is about.

It’s hard to see how a song like this will become a success, as it becomes extremely annoying, very quickly.

Swagger Jagger is to be released through Syco Music followed by Cher’s debut album in September.

Britney’s new video for I Wanna Go, the third single taken from Femme Fatale, premiered today on her official VEVO channel.

It’s definitely one of the best videos Britney has done for a long time as she seems a lot more normal, less frightened and shows some personality for once, especially in the little scene at the start. She looks “human” and more aware of her surroundings in comparison to the “spaced-out” Britney we’ve seen since the Black Out era.

Britney looks very Avril Lavigne circa 2007 with the pink streaks in her hair, and the scene where she climbs onto the taxi is almost like a homage to Sk8er Boi.

The video manages to be quite funny in parts, not only by Britney’s actions, but little details such as “Crossroads 2: Cross Harder” showing at the cinema, makes it less boring than her recent videos.

I Wanna Go is available now on iTunes worldwide.

The video for Nadine Coyle’s long awaited debut single Insatiable, premiered today on 4Music. Like the song itself, it’s a bit uneventful and somewhat boring.

The whole video consists of Nadine behind a microphone stand with different backgrounds and outfits throughout the video. It doesn’t look like the sort of video an artist would make for their debut single, especially coming out of a hugely successful girlband. It looks more like the type of video an artist would make towards the end of an album campaign when its only purpose is to promote a tour and keep the album selling, but not with the intent of the single becoming a huge success.

Insatiable sounds like it belongs in 2004/2005 when the charts were saturated with a million Since U Been Gone’s. It doesn’t sound current and if it wasn’t Nadine fronting it, it would struggle to become a hit. It might even struggle to become a hit regardless of Nadine, judging by the reception the song has received so far.

Insatiable will be released on November 1st followed by the album of the same name on November 8th.

The video didn’t involve much of a storyline. The girls seem to be stuck in traffic but they decide to get out of the car and walk instead. They then sing and dance through the streets of fabricated set of New York before arriving at a street party at the end.

The video for Ellie Goulding’s fourth single, The Writer, from her debut album, Lights, premiered at the weekend. The Writer is one of the best songs on Ellie’s album and more deserving of a single release than previous singles Guns And Horses and Under The Sheets. However, as a fourth single it may struggle to become the hit it deserves to be.

The video is very simple but allows the song to be fully appreciated by not distracting from it. There’s no plot but it shows Ellie walking through a field and walking around a lighthouse while singing the song.

Maroon 5 have released the lead single, Misery, from their upcoming third album, Hands All Over. Misery is a typical Maroon 5 song, as it sticks to their unique sound which makes you instantly recognise that it’s Maroon 5 when you listen. While it doesn’t sound very innovative, it’s still a catchy song which is what Maroon 5 have always been about (although this may not be the best song to lead an album with, but it does sound similar to This Love).

The video for Misery premiered recently too. It’s also a typical Maroon 5 video as lead vocalist, Adam Levine, has a love interest as usual. However, this time his love interest treats him badly by beating him, throwing him off buildings, causing him to get knocked down by a car and stabbing his friends while still continuing to display her love for him by kissing him at the same time. It’s quite a funny video while still remaining somewhat true to the lyrics of Misery.

Hands All Over is scheduled for release on September 21st with the following tracklisting:

01. How
02. Never Gonna Leave
03. Wasted Years
04. Last Chance
05. Don’t Know Much About That
06. Out of Goodbyes (featuring Lady Antebellum)
07. I Can’t Lie
08. Give a Little More
09. Misery
10. Stutter
11. Hands All Over
12. Stay Out Of My Life

A short preview of Katy Perry’s video for California Gurls was released. It’s a very candy, plastic and fun-looking video. The video seems to have a good mixture between a candy land theme and a beach theme, which are both very fitting for the song. The end of the preview is the most interesting as it shows Katy behaving like a fembot from the movie Austin Powers, before cutting the teaser reel.

Check it out:

Diana Vickers’ second single, The Boy Who Murdered Love, from her debut album, Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree, premiered today. In comparison to her debut video for Once, The Boy Who Murdered Love was not shot in a studio but it contain lots of cartoon animations throughout. These kind of animations in videos seem to be popular lately, as they are also used in Ke$ha’s video for Your Love Is My Drug. However, unlike the latter, the cartoon animations look very fitting in The Boy Who Murdered Love.

The video is set at Diana’s house in various rooms where she is seen surrounded by love letters, dead roses, old photographs and a vinyl player. The cartoon animations around her make her house seem like a crime scene where the “murder of love” took place. Other cartoons include a bow and arrows, roses changing from red to black, angel wings, wall and floor cracks, the house filling with water and a tomb stone with “LOVE R.I.P.” engraved on it in the garden.

The video references the movie The Shining. Diana’s ex-boyfriend in the video is seen holding a mug shot card displaying “REDRUM” (“MURDER” spelled backwards) as seen in the movie. The scenes of Diana in the bath in her clothes and the house filling with water while crumbling down are also references to The Shining. At the end of the video, Diana is seen walking up a cartoon yellow brick road alongside a sign for “Happiness”, with a rainbow overhead which references The Wizard of Oz also.

Overall, the video for The Boy Who Murdered Love is a step in the right direction for Diana as it perfectly captures who she is as an artist which the video for Once failed to portray.

The Boy Who Murdered Love will be released on July 12th through RCA Records.

Last night, a nineteen second teaser from Lady GaGa’s next single from The Fame Monster, Alejandro, was released. The short clip is in black and white which might be only for the teaser effect, the full version might be unveiled in colour.

The video seems very simple so far, compared to the mini movie that was the Telephone video. In one scene, Lady GaGa is shot standing in an empty room with a black backdrop while her dancers are seen walking out of, what looks like, a stadium. Another scene shows GaGa with a man, presumably the character Alejandro.

From the preview, it doesn’t look like the Alejandro video will be the mini series of events which the Telephone video had, but it does look interesting and leaves you wanting to find out what exactly it’s about.

The full version of the Alejandro will be released next Monday, June 7th, according to GaGa’s reliable fansite, GaGaDaily.
